Juan Luis Sanchez, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer
Juan Sanchez is a Professor of English at UCLA and a former President’s Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Berkeley. Since receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame in 2006, Juan has become an accomplished academic, publishing essays in book collections, including Romanticism’s Debatable Lands (Palgrave/Macmillan Press, 2007) and the forthcoming Romanticism and the Anglo-Hispanic Imaginary (Rodopi Press). His most recent essay, “Byron, Spain, and the Romance of Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage” appeared in the leading British Romanticism journal European Romantic Review in 2009. Among his most notable achievements include receiving the prestigious Edward Sorin Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2007, the Nanovic Institute Research Grant (2004), and the University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship at Berkeley (2007-2009). With extensive experience in education, including teaching lower- and upper-division college courses and SAT and GRE test preparation, Juan is most importantly an inspired educator with a proven track record for success.
Evelyn Boria-Rivera, Chief Financial Officer
Evelyn Boria-Rivera earned her Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame in 2008 and is now serving as a three-year postdoctoral fellow at UCLA in the department of English. After teaching at New York University (NYU) in 2007 as a visiting scholar, Evelyn was selected for a one year fellowship at the Chicana/Latina Research Center at UC Davis. In her academic career, Evelyn focuses on twentieth-century US American literature specializing in Latino/a literature. As a teacher, Evelyn has served as a guest lecturer in the Boston and Amherst areas and taught a number of courses at Emerson College, University of Notre Dame, and NYU.
Evelyn holds a Bachelor of Arts from the Oglethorpe University in Atlanta and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Emerson College in Boston. Prior to attending Notre Dame she worked as an editorial assistant at Houghton Mifflin Company and spent several years as the Visiting Scholars and Fellows Program Coordinator at the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University.
Nick Schuller, East Bay Regional Manager
Nick Schuller is a former California Public School teacher. He started working in education in high school as a volunteer, and then began teaching immediately after college. Initially, Nick worked for an elite, for-profit SAT prep company, but soon decided to pursue a career in public education. After teaching for four years in Bay Area public schools in Pittsburg and Oakland and receiving his credential, Nick decided to bring his expertise in both public and private education to Achieve Learning. Using his familiarity with the area, Nick now manages Achieve Learning’s operations in the East Bay.

Gilbert Sanchez, Chief Technology Officer

Gilbert Sanchez is the head of IT for ALRC. Born and raised in the South Bay Area, Gilbert has a great understanding of the importance of technology and its impact on education. Gilbert is currently working towards his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a concentration in information systems. Gilbert feels passionate about finding new ways to help improve students learning experience through the use of technology.

Lemon joined our organization in July of 2009, accompanying us on trips to college fairs, community events, and other official ALRC business. Lemon is a Lemon Beagle who tirelessly recruits students with her good looks and puppy dog charms.
